On the nature of Pontriagin extremal sliding mode

S. L. Kaganovich

Leningrad
Abstract: The structure of the Pontriagin extremal is investigated through analysis of sliding motions. The process of control switching in sliding mode of the Pontriagin extremal is that of iterative solution to a certain matrix game (such as Brown — Robinson). This fact leads to sufficient conditions for motion origination; sliding mode properties are studied and parameters computed.
