Stochastic Systems

Analysis of one server queue with halting sources

V. Ye. Yurchenko

Moscow
Abstract: The subject of the paper is one server queue, one or several Poisson entry fluxes and exponentially distributed service durations. The sources of entries switch off at random times (halt) and cease generating the entries over a certain time interval. For a system with one halting source three service schemes are considered, (1) with storage of previous entries and continuation of their sevicing; (2) with storing but with cessation of servicing; (3), with losses. The first approach is discussed for a system with several sources. Formulae for determination of the mean number of entries and estimation of the system efficiency are given.
