On parametric stabilization of a multi-element inverse pendulum

Abstract:
The possibility of stabilizing the upper unstable equilibrium position of a multielement pendulum by using a periodic control force applied at the suspension point is studied. The force has to be a member in a specified class of functions and ensure limited movement of the suspension point. The necessary and sufficient condions for this stabilization to be feasible are obtained.
