Abstract: An approach is proposed for diagnosing digital units by compact testing and using error locating codes. An array of unit assemblies are discussed for which the distortions of input sequences are interchangeable. With a certain number of assemblies and multiplicity of their faults the memory needs for diagnosis by this method may prove less than in using the associated compact testing method.
