Optimal control by a physical forecasting model

Abstract:
Optimal control systems are discussed where faster than real time free motion of the process over the optimization interval is reproduced in a physical low dimension model ratner than a computer. The structure of such systems is proved sound by an algorithm which employs a forecasting model and is optimal in terms of generalized work. In some applications systems having physical models are noted to reduce software costs and the requirements to througnput of the control computer.
