Digital optimal filtering in search for and estimation of, signal extrema

L. S. Vilenchik, V. P. Dvorkovich

Moscow
Abstract: A new search and estimation method is proposed for extrema of signals in the presence of a fluctuating noise in which r.m.s.—optimal digital linear filtering is employed. Noiseimmunity of this method is investigated for the important case of parabolic signals approximation. An example is given for computation of optimal filter coefficients and characteristics in two cases, a fixed quantization interval and a fixed observation interval.
