Estimating the resolution of on-line methods for monitoring the information protection in read-only memory

Quantitative criteria are given for “credibility” of software for monitoring the information protection in read-only memory. The criteria employ the concept of the monitoring function resolution and show the probability of detecting any failure which would lead to contamination of information in memory. For an extensively used method of controll addition of files, recurrent relations are derived which permit estimating the monitoring function resolution for parameters such as the file length, control word length, and the value of the modulo for which the addition is performed. Approximate methods are described for estimating the monitoring function resolution.
