Determining the optimal job sizes

V. N. Burkov, S. B. Ovyakimyan, E. D. Sklyarskaya

Moscow
Abstract: It is required to determine the job size so that the set of jobs be completed within time $T$ and a certain loss function which increases monotonically as the job sizes decrease take a minimal value. To solve the problem, effective algorithms are suggested which operate by maximal levelling of the residual resource levels and by resource allocation according to the operational risk.
