Optimization of flow distribution in a network with losses

A. V. Luk'yanov, A. A. Pervozvanskii

Leningrad
Abstract: The paper is concerned with optimal transmission of a uniform flow from, source to drain when losses occur in flow arcs. Unlike [1] the dependence of losses on the flow rate is not necessarily linear. This permits studying networks where unreliability of elements can result in failures. For piece wise-linear nonlineatities a finite step flow distribution algorithm is developed which insures minimal losses (a maximal output flow).
