On a multi-phase system with losses

Abstract: An m-phase service system without waiting stations receives a recurrent flow of customers the intervals between whose arrivals are distributed by the Cox law. The service durations at each server are distributed exponentially. The customer is lost it the server is busy. Recurrent formulae are given for computing the probabilities of losing a customer, system idling, and other system characteristics. Optimal stationing of servers is also discussed.
