An application of the method of successive computation to an automatic classification problem

A new classification performance functional is proposed which leads to an accurate solution of an automatic classification problem by using the method of successive computations. Applicability of such a functional to solving problems where the number or cardinality of classes is not constrained and partial constraints exist is discussed.
