Regularizing functions in many-period production optimization models

Abstract:
A linear dynamic model for many-period production optimization is designed by linear programming methods. For a large-dimensional model, piecewise-linear regularizing functions are introduced through qualitative information on stocks and flows. An example is given to show the effectiveness of the method for many-period optimization of the operation of a refinery.
