Coding of frequency ratio in automatic devices

Abstract: A way of the coding of a ratio of two frequencies by the binary code of the special type is described. The way is quite suitable for application in automatic measuring and control devices. Formulae for coding and decoding are deduced. On the basis of the analysis of various code combinations the accuracy of the suggested method is evaluated. Shemes for the transformation of the frequency ratio into the code are proposed.
