Aims and Scope

  1. For a long time the Journal was an edition where the new scientific results of Russian scientific schools had been published. Now the Journal is focused on both Russian and foreign scientists, working in the priority research areas of Samara State Technical University because the main purpose of the journal is an open dissemination of scientific knowledge among Russian and foreign scientists.

  2. The papers and reviews published in the Journal are devoted to the following topics: “Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics”, “Mechanics of Deformable Solids”, “Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Software Systems”.

  3. The Journal pays special attention to the following tasks:
    • attraction of highly qualified authors, editors and reviewers to the Journal;

    • ensuring a high scientific level of reviewing all incoming manuscripts;

    • compliance with COPE standards.

  4. The target audience of the journal is the scientists working in the following topics: “Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics”, “Mechanics of Deformable Solids”, “Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Software Systems”.

Section Polices

  1. The original articles, review articles, short communications, and other manuscript types (Biographies, Letter to the Editor, Commentary, and etc.) published in the Journal are devoted to the following topics: “Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics”, “Mechanics of Deformable Solids”, “Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Software Systems”.

  2. The Journal does not publish promotional materials.

  3. Only one article of the same author could be published in the current issue, if there are several ones in editor's hand. This article is chosen by the editorial board. The second one could be published in next issue, and so on. The editorial board is entitled to make a decision of publishing at most two articles of the same author simultaneously on extraordinary occasions.

  4. All content of this journal is indexed in databases.

Research Articles

  1. Research articles present original research and address a clearly stated hypothesis, goals, and questions. Papers should provide novel approaches and new insights into the problems addressed.

  2. All manuscripts should be prepared with LATEX 2ε (our LATEX template should be used) and sent to the Editor by the on-line manuscript submission service.

  3. Generally, the text is limited to 7,500 words or 30 pages (without bibliography), with no more than a total of 8 tables and/or figures and generally at least 10 and not more than 50 references. Some manuscripts take more words and/or references (by permission of the Editor), others less.

  4. All research articles should be structured (e.g. following the IMRaD style: introduction, methods, results and discussion).

  5. Authors should follow the guidelines for writing a manuscript for publication.

  6. The contributed original article should be a completed scientific research. It should not have been published, or be in process of publication in other editions.

  7. All research articles are sent to peer review.

Review Articles

  1. Review articles are an attempt by one or more authors to sum up the current state of the research on a particular topic. Ideally, the author searches for everything relevant to the topic, and then sorts it all out into a coherent view of the “state of the art” as it now stands.

  2. Review articles should inform about:

    • the main published results in a field;

    • recent major advances and discoveries;

    • significant gaps in the research;

    • current debates;

    • future directions and prospects.

  3. Review articles can vary greatly in length. The review articles may range between 8,000 and 40,000 words or between 30 and 90 pages (bibliography, tables and figures also included).

  4. Only review articles from experts in the field will be considered for publication.

  5. All review articles are sent to peer review.

Short Communications

  1. A short communication is for a concise, but an independent report representing a significant contribution to field of study.

  2. Short communication is not intended to publish preliminary results, only if these results are of exceptional interest and are particularly topical and relevant.

  3. The submission order and the structure of a short communication are similar to those of an research article.

  4. It should be no more than 2,500 words or 10 pages (without bibliography), and could include two figures or tables. It should have at least 8 references.

  5. Short communications are also sent to peer review.

Other Manuscript Types (Biographies, Letter to the Editor, Commentary, and etc.)

  1. The size of such manuscripts should be no more than 2500 words or 10 pages.

  2. Such manuscripts are not sent to peer review.

Peer Review Process

  1. The manuscript is read and examined for conformity to the Guide for Authors by the editor (initial manuscript evaluation).

  7. The reviews are kept in the editorial office during 5 years.

  8. The manuscripts are evaluated according to the following aspects:

    • Does the paper present novel concepts (theories), ideas, or data?

    • Are the scientific methods and assumptions valid and clearly outlined?

    • Are the results sufficient to support the conclusions?

    • Is the description of experiments and calculations sufficiently complete and precise to allow their reproduction by fellow scientists (traceability of results)?

    • Do the authors give proper credit to related work and clearly indicate their own new/original contribution?

    • Does the title clearly reflect the contents of the paper?

    • Does the abstract provide a concise and complete summary?

    • Is the manuscript well structured and clear?

    • Is the language fluent and precise?

    • Are mathematical formulae, symbols, abbreviations, and units correctly defined and used?

    • Should any parts of the paper (text, formulae, figures, tables) be clarified, reduced, combined, or eliminated?

    • Are the number and quality of references appropriate?

  9. All the above items will be evaluated as outstanding, good, fair, mediocre or poor by an assessment form given to evaluators.

  10. The article could be: accepted (with no further revision); revise; reject; reject (very preliminary results); reject (out of scope).

  11. If the paper is accepted with revisions, it must be sent again for review to the same evaluators.

  12. The editorial board makes a decision about the publication based on the reviewer's expert judgments taking into account the correspondence of the contributed materials with the thematic scope of journal, its scientific importance and actuality.

  14. The reviewers selection is the exclusive right of the editorial board.

  15. The editorial board avoids involving as reviewers people probably having the conflict of interest. The authors can inform the editorial board about the people whose contribution as reviewers is not desirable because of conflict of interest possibility. The reasoning of this view is required.
