Numerical simulation of external hypersonic equilibrium air flows

Abstract:
The paper refers to the numerical simulation of 3D turbulent external flows of equilibrium dissociated air. A model of such flows is described, which is adapted to the use of coarse meshes to calculate the forces and heat flows acting on the object. The model used bases on the solution of Favre averaged Navier–Stockes system, energy conservation equation and the model of thermodynamic properties of equilibrium dissociated air. The paper also addresses the questions of composition and application of such models for the applied CFD package. Some numerical examples are provided.
